Notes on a Milonga
He extends an invitation
She takes his hand
unrehearsed
He must be sure and direct
but not force.
She must always be ready
at the right tempo
with a flourish here and there.
His 5 steps are all he needs*
to create an opening.
He waits.
She waits.
Then enters.
The Milonga.
*In argentinian tango
the men only need to
master 5 of his preferred steps.
The rest is just a play off those.

They did it again!
Once again, the Language and Laughter Studio has won the grand prix at French Theatre Festival's Premiere Scene competition at the Lycee Francaise NYC. What can I say? They thoroughly deserved it, not just because my daughter is in it, but because of the exceptional talent of Stephanie Fribourg. Her vision and discipline in the art of theatre is what makes her pieces stand out in the crowd. And thanks to the director Pascale Setbon this makes it their 5th win in a row. Also a shout out to the playful and colorful costumes by my friend Sandra Hamburg. Vive les enfants de LLS!
Video for Les Cousinailles, group 1.
Red masked kids, Anonyme, groupe 2 (awards: best young french actress, best original play)
